Video: James Franco Visits Letterman to Blame His Oscars Performance on Anne Hathaway

Aside from the cryptic messages he scrawled to Bruce Vilanch, James Franco has been curiously silent about his reviled performance as this year's Academy co-host -- that is, until he sat down this afternoon with the one person who could possibly relate to his Oscar ordeal: David Letterman. Click through to watch the pair lament their failed experiences on Hollywood's biggest night.

Put it down to bad casting. The host must be debonair. Self-deprecating. Suave. Musical. Comical. Affable. LIKABLE.

  • pacheco says:

It's only Oscars. Who cares! I only watched the entire thing because of him...I thought he and Anne were fine, and I don't see it as blaming her, he's just stating that she has a lot of energy and anyone would look stoned next to her. That was all

  • Angie says:

I like them. Yes I did. Crazy! For me the Oscar's are always the same. They are long and boring. But there's something for everyone. I wanted for James Franco to win he was amazing in the movie. I did not like the writting. It seem they were to scare after the golden globes.

I like the Oscars, would of like for him to win though, but over all it was ok.

  • epochd says:

he was a shitty host. he should just own it.

  • Charles Melvin says:

It's simple: kissing ass doesn't come naturally to smart people. This interview was far more engaging than anything that happened on stage at the Kodak Theatre. Only Letterman could come up with the three stages of post-host grief: Embarrassment, numbness and defiance.

Charles Melvin, hosting the Oscars is not kissing ass. Hosting entails working the crowd, engaging the audience, and being charming. James Franco did nada at the Oscars, and it was obvious he didn't want to be there. Now, he is complaining about hideous reviews ,even though he didn't do anything. Franco should have expected bad notices.
