Justin Bieber Threatening to Star in a Coming-Of-Age Comedy With Ashton Kutcher

JustinBieber300.jpgEver since Justin Bieber proved that he is more popular than Michael Jackson at the box office, film studios have been feverishly plotting ways to get the Never Say Never subject back into the multiplex. (I think.) Among the options explored: kidnapping the star and asking for a thirty-picture deal as ransom, developing 4-D technology just so that they can re-release Never Say Never in another dimension, and casting the musician in a buddy comedy with Ashton Kutcher.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the last option is the most likely. Bieber has reportedly been considering a role in What Would Kenny Do?, a film "about the relationship between a 17-year-old and his thirtysomething self." Ashton Kutcher is rumored to be playing the part of the thirtysomething-aged main character.

The film, being developed by Sony and produced by Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment, comes from a 2008 Black List script by Chris Baldi. In the original script, "a teenager meets a hologram claiming to be the adult version of himself; the hologram then helps guide the teen through high school." Sony is allegedly looking for a new writer and director. If this deal goes through, this would be Bieber's first foray into non-documentary film.

What do you think about Justin Bieber transitioning into a leading man and more importantly, do you think Ashton Kutcher has the emotional depth to convincingly portray a hologram?

  • j'accuse! says:

John Travolta could play Justin's mom. And Bruce Willis Ashton's dad! Al Pacino could walk in and yell at everyone for five minutes! What they hell, they could bring back the ghost of Laurence Olivier to play his granddad! I mean, if we're just throwing shitty ideas against the wall, why not go all out, eh?

Are you kidding me?!! This Is It still may be $1M behind in the US but is $189.1 million overseas to Beiber's $10M. "Ever since Justin Bieber proved that he is more popular than Michael Jackson at the box office..." What a load of crap. MJ's movie has outsold Bieber's 4 times over. You guys live to put Michael down. On top of that, you're terrible at math!
