VIDEO: Tarzan Audition Tape Might Be Better Than Eventual Movie

Remember the Tarzan adaptation that director Stephen Sommers had his eye on before he went and pinched off G.I. Joe? All right, me neither. But DeWet Du Toit -- a.k.a The Man Who Would Be Tarzan -- sure as hell still remembers, and now he's got the video to prove it.

More than a year ago, Du Toit appealed to Hollywood for its casting consideration, unleashing the all-caps missive: "I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THE WILL TO WIN IS MORE CRUCIAL THAN THE SKILL TO WIN." His recent audition video proves his philosophy hasn't changed; from the vine-swinging exploits to elephant rides to the [SPOILER ALERT] must-see climactic fight/gorrilacide, Du Toit's commitment to being Tarzan far exceeds the sincerity of any big-budget twaddle Sommers has ever done. It's also 100 times funnier, particularly Du Toit's explanation why he's "gracing you with my presence." Good luck, DeWet!

I remember! I won Commenter of the Week for that. This was back before gold boxes and, well... fire.
