Weekend Receipts: Unknown Tops Box Office, I Am Number Four May Have Accurately Labeled Itself
The box office is turning into a derby this weekend! Films keep pulling ahead, falling behind, showing legs, fading away -- who knew it could be this exciting? The one constant has been Unknown, which has held the number one spot all weekend and is not letting go. Sadly, it was not such a great weekend to be a formerly in love couple or pair of cross-dressing family members. Your likely soon-to-change weekend receipts are here.
1. Unknown
Gross: $22,500,000 (new)
Screens: 3,043
Weeks: 1
Liam Neeson is kind of starting to kill it with these sleeper thriller flicks. Remember Taken? That movie came out of nowhere to make $145,000,000 after a pretty similar opening weekend. This also bodes well for January Jones, who with X-Men: First Class coming out soon, might be able to ditch the mean mom persona and instead become a frosty leading lady on the big screen!
2. Gnomeo & Juliet
Gross: $19,000,000 ($50,000,000)
Screens: 3,014
Weeks: 2
Well, it looks like we know what you did with the kids this weekend.
3. I Am Number Four
Gross: $18,500,000 (new)
Screens: 3,154
Weeks: 1
I Am Number Four is BARELY holding on to the third position and is likely dropping to number four for the four-day holiday weekend. The battle for Glee's first big screen superstar is still going strong.
4. Just Go With It
Gross: $17,700,000 ($60,200,000)
Screens: 3,548
Weeks: 2
Lea Michele is no doubt spending her President's Day taking every person she has ever met in her life to see this critically panned rom com. I mean, it's the only way this film is still performing. Right?
5. Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son
Gross: $16,000,000 (new)
Screens: 2,821
Weeks: 1
Can we stop making these now? Please?

Please lame dig at Lea Michele for no reason..... No surprise about I am number #4 when you try to start a franchise you are going to look weak.
I hope Jones is better in X men than she was in Unknown.
If I see Unknown and don't like it, I'm deathly afraid Liam Neeson will find out and hunt me down for it.
