Karaoke Trailer for Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family Totally Lives Up to the Poster

After getting over the initial shock of seeing the amazing/terrifying Black Swan parody poster for Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family, you may have found yourself asking: "How will the movie possibly live up to that?" I still don't have a good answer to that, but can happily report that the trailer is every bit as ridiculous as the poster. I'm talking about a full-on Karaoke sing-along to a Madea single ("MA to the DEA") and enough split-screen to embarrass Brian de Palma.

I was on record as thinking the For Colored Girls trailer was a bit too over-the-top-serious for it's own good, but it turns out when Tyler Perry (or at least whoever cuts his trailers) goes to the other pole, he goes all the way. High five, Mr. Perry. I think the middle is boring too!

In any case, this trailer plays like some combination of a commercial for a syndicated sitcom and avant-garde pop art. It may too much to expect the entire movie be edited this way (Madea raises a hammer - Now look at two Madeas raising hammers!), but one can hope right? In any case, I haven't followed Madea's exploits as closely as some of my colleagues, so I'm going to hold off on any predictions about how it fares in relation to the rest of Perry's oeuvre, but here's the trailer in all of its zany glory.

Verdict: Fingers crossed for star wipes in the actual film.
