Joseph Gordon-Levitt May Star in The Dark Knight Rises, and 6 Other Stories You'll Be Talking About Today

joseph gordon levitt riddler.jpgAlso in this humpday edition of The Broadsheet: Warner Bros. is still trying to make Fletch happen... Zach Galifianakis might meet Schwentke... Hugh Jackman is pumped (and pumping) for The Wolverine... and more ahead.

· Has Christopher Nolan caught a case of the Schumacher? Deadline's Mike Fleming reports that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in talks to join The Dark Knight Rises when the film starts shooting in May. You'll recall that Gordon-Levitt was originally rumored to play The Riddler in Nolan's third Batman film, but it's unclear what role he would play if cast. Of course with Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway already lined up as potential heavies, it seems like The Riddler might be overkill. Unless JoGo is playing Robin, in which case... cool? I don't even know anymore. [Deadline]

· Since we wear pink on Wednesdays, what better time to paraphrase a Mean Girls quote for this next bullet: Stop trying to make Fletch happen. It's not going to happen! Ahem. Warner Bros. is hoping to bring Fletch back to the big screen. No writer or director is attached yet, but expect the eventual casting rumors to start at Ryan Reynolds and work down to Joel McHale and Jason Lee. [THR]

· Speaking of Reynolds, it looks like he might have found a partner in death for R.I.P.D., the crime drama about recently deceased police officers: Zach Galifianakis is apparently in talks to co-star. This makes me happy because it would mean Galifianakis and director Robert Schwentke would be on the same set. Galifianwenkte 4eva! [LAT/24 Frames]

· James Franco. Next fall. Broadway. Tennessee Williams' Sweet Bird of Youth. Co-star Nicole Kidman. Fin. [Deadline]

· I'll say it since you won't: The Wolverine sounds like it could be awesome. At least Hugh Jackman thinks so. In an interview with the LA Times, Jackman raves about director Darren Aronofsky, and reveals his diet for the film requires 6,000 calories per day. Those adamantium claws don't grow themselves! [LAT/Hero Complex]

· Lindsay Lohan is under investigation for possibly stealing a $5,000 necklace. Not much else to say about this one. [LAT/L.A. Now]

· The comeback of Alyssa Milano starts right now! The actress has been cast in Garry Marshall's certain blockbuster rom-com, New Year's Eve. [Variety]

    CORRECTION: Scwhentkanakis.

Halle Berry really dodged a bullet with that _New Year's Eve_, didn't she? She can't afford any more _Catwoman_ sized missteps.

  • Martini Shark says:

I'll wager that Lohan pinched the necklace as part of her own comeback attempt. Look for her to appear in a very special episode of Pawn Stars.

  • Andrew says:

JGL can't be Robin. Not only Nolan changes his mind and decides part three takes place at least a decade after Dark Knight.
And I've been saying FOR YEARS that they should reboot Fletch with Joel McHale. Even though the original is a classic, it's a classic Chevy Chase movie. You could easily make a more accurate adaptation of the book and not step on Chase's Fletch. And McHale could not only carry it, but he's much closer to the character in McDonald's books than Chase is.
