Dino De Laurentiis Honored With YouTube's Worst-Ever Video

delaurentiis_ratner_225.jpgIt's kind of obvious to suggest that any true video tribute to the late Dino De Laurentiis should comprise some balance of grace, schlock and adventure, much as the legendary producer's own work did for decades prior to his death today at age 91. I think you can find all three in this strange video bearing his (misspelled) name, but you'll probably have to search -- and if you can make it through all eight minutes, you're a better viewer than I.

The worst, most annoying thing about this video? It's not embeddable. I spent the last hour fiddling with failed download attempts, so you'll have to go watch it on the 'Tube, where there's little to go on in "dino delaurentis" [sic] but the summary by creator "schoenburgh," who writes:

a serios of guitar vignettes experiment setup ggtr synth and preamp directly to line in camera.one usefull tio take the mic input down to the low setting on the hdr-sr1 avchd hdd handycam

But what about the comprehensive, impressionistic montage from the Dino De Laurentiis photo album? And is that a young Brett Ratner? So many questions! Anyway, may God rest De Laurentiis's soul, because I don't think this guy ever will.

PALATE CLEANSER: Trailer for the De Laurentiis-produced Barbarella. Don't mention it.

That thing is as unwatchable as most of his movies. But I have to pay my respects to him because he produced the first movie I ever saw in a theater...King Kong (1976) I know...I know, cut me some slack...I was 3!
