Jean-Luc Godard, Piracy Defender

godard_120.jpgFamed French filmmaker (and possible Academy Award Honoree) Jean-Luc Godard is using some of the money he saved with his Hyundai purchase to fight the good fight against copyright laws. The filmmaker is donating 1,000 Euros to the defense of James Climent, who is accused of downloading 13,788 MP3s illegally. In a statement about the donation Godard said, "There is no such thing as intellectual property." Maybe Climent can just use the same defense Godard used when director Sam Fuller accused him of plagiarism: Downloading those 13,788 MP3s wasn't stealing, it was homage. [Boing Boing via MCN]
