14. Why weren't any Jersey Shore cast members electrocuted when shouting into their microphones from the hot tub?

Because their microphones were wireless...and because MTV producers have no sense of humor.

15. Why did Lady Gaga keep finding ways to fit the phrase "Born This Way" into her eight acceptance speeches last night?

Because that is the title of her upcoming album, which she officially announced after winning Video of the Year.

16. How many My So-Called Life stars win an award last night?

One. Jared Leto's band 30 Seconds to Mars took home the trophy for "Kings and Queens."

17. How many presenters made jokes about masturbating with a VMA Moon Man?

One. When Eminem failed to accept an award for Best Male Video (he was already on a plane back to New York), Katy Perry told co-presenter Nicki Minaj to enjoy the Moon Man later that night since "he is already stiff."

GagaCherVMAs225.jpg18. Was Cher really holding Lady Gaga's "meat purse?"

Yes. When Gaga accepted the trophy for Best Video of the Year ("Bad Romance"), she had again changed into a dress constructed from red meat. Poor Cher was left to awkwardly hold onto Gaga's steak clutch.

19. What kind off-color subjects did Chelsea Handler explore during the show last night?

In no particular order: herpes, lesbians, casual racism, sex, sexual harassment, the morning-after pill, Snooki, alcoholism, promiscuity, Mariah Carey's age, Mel Gibson, accidental pregnancies, etc.

20. Speaking of off-color, did Chelsea really ask True Blood star Joe Manganiello if she could "get a ride home...on your face."

Yes.

Much as I'd like to join the club of ill-wishers for Lady Gaga, "Bad Romance" is one of the best pop songs of the last decade. It was also the most iconic video of the year, so kookoo-kudos to Gaga.
Also +100 to Julie Miller for the line, "Was Cher really holding Lady Gaga’s meat purse?" which I am sure she can recycle into a Playboy article .

  • Victor Ward says:

I'm just glad Lady Gaga wasn't dressed as a bagel. That would have been really awkward for Cher.

  • TurdBlossom says:

Wouldn't a dress made out of raw meat start to stink after a short time? Also, anyone else think Telephone should have won more awards?

  • Victor Ward says:

Also, Chelsea Handler dancer in the bottom right - he is so dreamy I'm tempted to make a geocities fansite about him.

  • Not Afraid says:

Amazing, Lady Gaga was awarded eight VMA prizes yesterday night! I am extremely proud of her wins and I like the Born This Way tune she sang too!

  • Awww I want BSB and NSYNC do a kind of combined reunion tour. How coolwould it be if they did something together like that?

  • She could never be popular if she were poor. Like all of us who, at one point of our lives, have dreamt to become famous or at least have the money that she was gifted with. And like all of us, it would take colossal effort before we can actually gain other people's regard. She, however, got all of these hassle free, without the slightest effort.
