Hollywood Ink: Olivia Thirlby Will Lay Down the Law in Judge Dredd

olivia_thirlby_225.jpgAlso in this morning's Hollywood Ink: Jonathan Rhys-Meyers finds his next period piece... Robert Schwentke (Schwentke! Schwentke!) circles another project... and your long awaited Alyssa Milano update. (Apparently Hollywood took Labor Day weekend very seriously this year.)

· Honest to blog, look who found their next big movie. Juno co-star Olivia Thirlby will join Karl Urban in the upcoming 3D adaptation of Judge Dredd. She'll play a "telepathic rookie" named Cassandra Anderson who shadows Dredd and presumably falls in love with him. [Variety]

· Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (The Tudors) is signed on for Belle Du Seigneur, a French film based on Albert Cohen's bestselling French novel. He'll star as a Jewish diplomat who has an affair with a married Swiss woman (naturally played by Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova; if only there were beautiful women in Switzerland!) on the eve of World War II. Think Casablanca mixed with Zalman King. [Deadline]

· Summit Entertainment has hired Jesse Wigutow to re-write an adaptation of Robert Ludlum's The Osterman Weekend with eyes on hiring Movieline hero Robert Schwentke (Red) to direct. Sam Peckinpah directed a 1983 adaptation of Ludlum's book, which focuses -- as Deadline puts it -- on "a guy trapped in a conspiracy." Ludlum really had a type, huh? [Deadline]

· Interested in seeing Alyssa Milano's newest movie, but afraid to show your face at the local multiplex? You're in luck! My Girlfriend's Boyfriend, co-starring Milano and Christopher Gorham, will premiere on WB Digital's pay-per-view and VOD platforms and get sold around the world via Opus Distribution. [THR]
