What's On: Real World Problems

ryanrealworld225.jpgCan we even handle another episode of terror and delight with The Real World's crunkcore virgin Ryan? He infuriated us during the last episode, but the yellow-haired blowhard knows we like it that way. Also on tonight: A big night of Nigel Lythgoe criticisms, choir-director woes, and that old-time Kevin Bacon fun.

So You Think You Can Dance [Fox, 8 PM]

Down to eight! Color me pessimistic, but I think we can expect another girl to be eliminated come tomorrow night. Lauren Froderman is tres talented, but her days are numbered. She doesn't bring the delirious appeal of even the least talented guys Jose and Kent, and it might take a dual Mia Michaels-Adam Shankman crying jag to save her.

The Real World [MTV, 10 PM]

My favorite/un-favorite new reality star Ryan returns in the second episode of RW's 24th season. Also: Someone is taken to the hospital tonight! God, I hope that doesn't mean Ryan is maimed in a terrible longboard-carrying accident.

The Choir [BBC America, 10 PM]

Gareth Malone fronts this BAFTA-winning reality series as a choral director who combs a Middlesex, UK public school for students to join a world-class choir. I hope this experience combines what was maudlin about Mr. Holland's Opus with the cloying competitive vibe of Glee. Except, you know, makes it good.

Footloose [CMT, 10 PM]

Before a lad named Kenny Wormald took the reins, Footloose was a happenin' 1983 jaunt about a teen (Kevin Bacon) who schemes to arrange a school dance in a town that prohibits such tomfoolery. John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest, and Sarah Jessica Parker eventually join the party and kick up their Sunday shoes. Loggins, come back to us!
