Kick-Ass Officially Wins Box-Office

After narrowly trailing How to Train Your Dragon is yesterday's weekend box-office estimates, actuals reveal that Kick-Ass did in fact beat the month-old family flick by a margin of $19.8 million to $19.6 million. Are you any less underwhelmed? I didn't think so. [The Wrap]

  • SunnydaZe says:

If Stu was an 11 year old girl you would be so sorry you said that.

  • What am I eating? Did it not not still underperform by at 30 percent? Did I not predict a number-one opening on Friday? What did I miss?

  • Colander says:

Just trying to bring the essence of the comments from over the weekend. I haven't even seen the movie.

It does seem that you (movieline) have it out for this movie for some reason. It's already made back half it's budget, and despite the hype, who thought this would be anything but a niche movie? I am usually the guy that gets his friends stoked about comic book movies and explaining what they are about, blah blah blah... I didn't even bother with this one.
The ending of this movie really blows though... only because of the dumb jetpack though.

I have a feeling word of mouth will help kick-ass this week.
Also it was funny to watch the kids sneak into it at AMC citywalk on Friday.

  • Oh, sorry. Clearly the 56th cut was the deepest.
