The Gossip Girl Pun Index: Fashion is Tailor Made!

As if the current plots on Gossip Girl weren't ridiculous enough, each week the show is peppered with a bunch of pun-heavy voice overs from the unnamed Gossip Girl of the title (voiced with a paycheck quality by Kristen Bell). Think: Carrie Bradshaw, but more banal. On last night's episode, "The Empire Strikes Jack" (they love their puns on this show), 16-year-old Jenny worked at Eleanor Waldorf's fashion show and ran into some old friends, while Chuck fought with his uncle over their family hotel. How did all of the related puns rank? To the list!

"Careful J, the show's about to start. And it looks like Eleanor's line is going to bring a whole new meaning to 'high fashion.'"

Jenny's hell-raising frenemy, Agnes (played by hell-raising Willa Holland), gave every model at the fashion show a panoply of pills to choose from, so this seems highly appropriate. Get it? Two can play at this game, Gossip Girl!

Pun-tastic Rating: 7 out of 10.

"We hear Chuck's hotel is hanging on by a thread, and Jack's pulling all the strings."

If the hotel is "hanging by a thread" then wouldn't Jack just be pulling on one string? Oh, Gossip Girl. Your attention to detail is matched only by your blank line readings.

Pun-tastic Rating: 4 out of 10.

"Spotted: Little J passing out in a taxi. Uh-oh, looks like somebody better call the fashion police."

Since Jenny was drugged, tossed into a cab and sent off to a bachelor party where who knows what horrible things could have happened to her, maybe someone should have called the real police instead. Doesn't this fall under the Good Samaritan law?
