You've starred in R-rated movies before, but haven't been allowed to watch them. Have things changed?

I am going to be allowed to watch Kick-Ass.

Have you not seen it yet?

No, not yet. Isn't that crazy?

They screened it for all these fanboys in Austin and they won't screen it for the lead actress?

[Laughs] I know! But I was shooting Let Me In the whole time.

Well, let's talk about that film. You said that you don't like to read the scripts beforehand because you get too attached. Since Let Me In is a remake of Let the Right One In, did you want to watch that film prior to your audition?

I didn't watch Let the Right One In before I went in for the role. When I booked the movie, I watched parts of it -- just little snippets -- but no, I still haven't watched the whole thing. I don't know -- I kind of did my own thing with it, you know? It's a really different role than most vampires.

What was your spin on the character?

The character of Abby...I mean, usually a lot of movies glamorize being a vampire. It's pretty, it's cool, you look awesome! The way we did it was that it's not cool to be a vampire. It's a burden that she has to carry with her, not this fun, cool, interesting thing. It's scary, deep, and dark, this devil inside of her. The vampire is different than Abby. It's like her alternate personality, and when it takes her over, she has no control.

You're also in Diary of a Wimpy Kid, which is based on a series of popular children's books. Who do you play?

I play a girl named Angie, and she's not in the books. She was written into the script as a new character.

Was it nice to act opposite kids your own age for a change?

It was really fun for me because I got to do a fun, light-hearted comedy, but they're all fun for me. I love acting with adults, I love acting with kids, everything.

When you were younger and wanted to start acting, is this the sort of career you envisioned?

It's funny, because I was just in New York a couple days ago, and that was really where we started, as far as acting. I was there with my brother -- my mom was at home because we'd just gotten back from Let Me In -- and I was walking down the street with my brother, and I said, "Do you realize that seven years ago, we could only dream of being here?" Doing two photo shoots, getting to be in New York again...it was so amazing. It brought back so many memories of when I first started, you know?
