Tyler Perry's New Fan Message Fails to Note Six-Time Oscar Nominee He Executive Produced

You've got to feel for Tyler Perry, a self-contained juggernaut of film and TV production, theater tours and various other interests that would wipe out a dozen lesser men and/or women bold enough to take them on just one at a time. But even the most diligent, detail-oriented hyphenate working today can occasionally overlook a thing or two when he's on the road. I mean, come on: Tell me you've never forgotten to mention your film's six new Oscar nominations in a letter to your fans, as Perry did today in failing to congratulate or even hint at Precious's superb Academy Awards showing. Oh. OK, well, read on to see what did make the cut.

Perry's "message corner" on his Web site has been a place of bracing candor and mostly benign news flashes over the years, and the latter took precedence today with an update about Perry's ongoing, sold-out arena performances of Madea's Big Happy Family. Among other news: He's raised his donation to Haitian relief efforts to $1 million, the new trailer for Why Did I Get Married, Too? is live (as if you didn't know!), and -- wait for it -- OMGZ pupppppiiieeeessss:

I had a night to come home and look in on the dogs. Aldo was so happy to see me. I need to send you a video of how this dog greets me. He runs in circles when he sees me, jumps on me...it's the best! Peter, Paul and Mary, (I call them "The Thugs" because for a while they were tearing everything up,...LOL…but they're better now), are about 50 pounds each. I'm not sure how big they will get though. They love the cold weather. I think it's the Husky in them. Anyway, they're healthy and happy. My folks are taking really good care of them while I'm away.

Love, Tyler! Oh, and PS: Oprah Winfrey and I executive produced a movie that got a half-dozen Oscar nominations earlier today. Congratulations to Lionsgate and Lee Daniels and everyone else involved with the film, and thanks for your support, which I've made a few bucks on in the last three months. I'm very proud!
