John Carter of Mars Gets Kitschy

Friday Night Lights star Taylor Kitsch has long complained about the amount of roles he's had that require him to take off his shirt, but it looks like the 28-year-old has finally embraced his niche. THR is reporting that Kitsch will be blasting off to John Carter of Mars, the Disney adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' book series to be directed by Andrew Stanton (Wall-E). And who will be his similarly scantily-clad love interest?

According to the article, the part of Dejah Thoris has gone to Verge alumna Lynn Collins, who shared her last bigscreen credit with Kitsch: X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Congrats to both; it seems that Kitsch beat out the likes of Josh Duhamel and Jon Hamm (!) for the part of the Civil War soldier mysteriously transported to Mars. Not that storyline again.

John Carter of Mars would have been such a liberating vehicle to showcase to the world the new Chaz Bono. Is it too late to recast?
I guess PE coach on Glee could work too.
