· Next steps are crucial for Star Trek's Chris Pine: Spend his superstar capital too frivolously, it won't be long before he's starring opposite ducks. Luckily, his choice to star opposite Denzel Washington in Unstoppable -- a runaway train movie directed by Tony Scott -- sounds to be a wise decision. [Variety]

· A&E President Abbe Raven has been named to head the new mega-cable company being formed by Disney, Hearst Corp. and NBC Universal to house Lifetime, A&E and History. That's so Raven! [Variety]

· Amanda Seyfried, Vanessa Redgrave, Gael Garcia Bernal and Franco Nero have been cast in Summit Entertainment's Letters to Juliet. Between Gael's singing in Rudo y Cursi and Pierce Brosnan's in Mamma Mia, we're beginning to thing Seyfried is under some curse placed upon her by a toothless Gypsy woman whose turn she stole at karaoke. · Fox Dept. of Apocalypse-Hasterning Alternative Programming has decided it's time to go back to the blind-weddings concept that worked out so well for them in their nascency. On I Married a Stranger, a woman "prepares for her blind wedding, friends and family are shown selecting a spouse from a pool of six eligible suitors offered by producers. The men are eliminated one by one until only two candidates remain. Both finalists walk down the aisle, but only one makes it to the altar to reveal himself to his new wife." CBS has their own version -- Arranged Marriage -- which follows one couple all season. There's some crucial point about Prop 8 and the end of civilization as we know it that we wanted to make here, but we're quite frankly too lazy. [THR]

· 'Til Death creators Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith have signed a two-year, seven-figure sitcom development deal with Sony Pictures TV. They're husband and wife, who got their start as story editors on The King of Queens in 1998 after graduating from USC's s School of Cinema-Television. They also wrote 13 Going on 30 and What Women Want. But how would they fare in The One-Page Screenplay contest? We issue the challenge. [THR]
