Mad Men 3: Even Madder

· Here's the latest promo for Season 3 of Mad Men. Don't think of it as Don Draper cold-cocking Jimmy Barrett. Think of it as a fist-spaceship, taking our knuckle-sandwiches to a place where they ache to go again. [AMC]

· Smiles, everyone, smiles! It's Johnny Depp's private island in the pages of Vanity Fair.

· As it turns out, Conan's info was wrong: The Jay Leno Show won't premiere tonight, but on Sept. 14th, 10 p.m. sharp.

· So that Sacha Baron Cohen/Eminem gag was scripted, said writer Scott Aukerman in a tweet that mysteriously vanished. The part where Brüno farted on Audrina Patridge as they unhooked his cables was completely off the cuff, however. (Why is Audrina Patridge my stock MTV joke character? Something about the arrangement of consonants in her name is comedy gold.)

· Winona Ryder tells Empire magazine a Heathers sequel is forthcoming: "Whatever you hear there is a sequel in the works, I swear to God. But for some reason Dan and Michael don't want to talk about it. I've been wanting to do a sequel forever. There is a story, and Christian has agreed to come back as a kind of Obi-Wan character."

Audrina farted on? Not the first time, won't be the last.

  • sweetbiscuit says:

Wait, aren't all those Mad Men scenes from last season? I don't get it.

  • dollywould says:

I believe they are... Unless we both have some amazing time machine whose only purpose is to let us watch cable television from the future.

What's the point of promoting something when you have zero promotional materials? You'd think they'd have something better up their sleeves than some stupid clip show (wasn't it on The Simpsons where they said something along the lines of clip shows being the result of having absolutely no new ideas?). I'd much rather have a nifty teaser poster. This is a show about the advertising world, for chrissakes. The pr agency they hired ought to hang its head in shame.

Since when does Matt Weiner let the public see anything new more than two weeks before the show airs? AMC probably begged him for crumbs to promote. "Can you tell us if Joan is married or still working at Sterling Cooper? No? Uh, can you give us a clip of Betty and Don's baby? No? Uh, can you tell us what year you're shooting in? Okay, but it's still the 60's, right? Okay, the dog. Duck's dog. Where is it? Let's just get a shot of him running down the street. Hello?"
