Tara Reid Rejoins Elective-Surgery-Financing Pie Series

Tara Reid is signing on for the newest American Pie sequel, no doubt moved by Vin Diesel's similar, successful return to the franchise that launched him (as well as Universal's ability to meet her insurance premiums). There's just one catch.

Though the new entry, American Pie: Book of Love, reunites several series alums in addition to Reid (including American Pie 2 scripter David H. Steinberg and serial paycheck-collector Eugene Levy), it's slated to skip theaters entirely. Book of Love will instead follow in the direct-to-DVD footsteps of franchise offshoots American Pie Presents Band Camp, American Pie Presents Beta House, and American Pie Presents The Naked Mile (still yet to receive the Pie imprimatur: freshman orientation, the "walk of shame," and Jewish day school).
