Early Bazooka Joe Footage Hints at Violent Origin Story to Come

Ever since getting the word last week about the live-action Bazooka Joe adaptation planned by Michael Eisner, I've been lost in a sugar rush of potential concepts and back stories for the one-eyed hero's big-screen debut. Funny or Die, meanwhile, has its own ideas, and judging by the NSFW scenes after the jump, we might share a vision of a darker gum mascot for a new millennium.

How Long Before The Goods Reveals Its Secret?

It may not surprise you to know that The Goods was produced by Will Ferrell's company Gary Sanchez, as the car salesman comedy bears all the hallmarks of the ex-SNLer's work: a deluded egotist at its center (here played, in a stretch, by Jeremy Piven), a vaguely unflattering wardrobe that looks snatched from the disco era, and David Koechner in a supporting role. What may not be apparent, though, is that the movie boasts a secret star performance that's glimpsed for nary a frame in the new trailer below.

Bad Lieutenant Trailer Brings Nicolas Cage, Werner Herzog and Crack Together at Last

Where do you even begin with the first trailer for Bad Lieutenant, Werner Herzog and Nicolas Cage's re-envisioning of Abel Ferrara's 1992 cult classic? Only unearthed on Wednesday despite having been on YouTube for several weeks now, the NSFW spot hums along fairly blandly until right around the one-minute mark, at which point everything goes nuts and you can start making your real judgments as to whether, as Ferrara insisted, these people should "die in Hell." It kind of looks like they already have. The video is after the jump.

Chris Pine's Three-Year-Old Influenza Zombie Movie Unearthed

It's not too difficult to figure out the reasoning behind Paramount's decision to finally release Carriers, a pandemic thriller with Chris Pine shot way back in 2006. For starters, Pine is now a huge star, launched into the stratosphere by J.J. Abrams' Star Trek. Furthermore, the entire planet was just going pigshit a few weeks ago over something called swine flu. So it seems a no-brainer, right, to blow the dust off Pastor brothers Àlex and David's 28 Days Later-ish movie about an avian flu outbreak, toss it into theaters, and see if it floats. (It opens early September.)

The Two-Minute Verdict: Hung Feels Limp

On today's edition of Two-Minute Verdict, we take a first look at HBO's new series, Hung. (The cable network announced today it would debut the first of the show's ten episodes on June 28th at 10 p.m.) Directed by Alexander Payne, the trailer -- culled from what I assume are scenes from the pilot -- sets up the series' premise of a massively endowed high school basketball coach who resorts to pimping out his studding services to make ends meet. He's no Paul Giamatti, but flopped helplessly onto his belly for a proctology exam, Thomas Jane's Ray makes a nice addition to Payne's curiosity cabinet of impotent, shlemiel protagonists.

VIDEO: Mel Gibson Confirms Dropping Baby Blintz in Girlfriend's Babushka on Leno

Kicking off Jay Leno's final week of Tonight Show broadcasts was guest Mel Gibson, who slipped his old friend a headline-grabbing scoop before waving him off to an uncharted future in prime time. Not that Leno didn't work for it: Seconds after Gibson's ass made upholstery contact, the host went in for the kill, bringing up the topic of the prominent actor/director/judeotheorist's recent divorce from his wife of 28 years. Looking tan and relaxed, and free from the psycho-eyed intensity and unruly facial outcroppings that accompanied his precipitous drop from the public's good graces, Gibson was impressively forthcoming with his thoughts on the matter: "Look. When it's all said and done, I did a pretty good hatchet job on my marriage myself," he bluntly admitted. "I'm to blame. If you're inclined to judge, put it here."

G-Force: Revisiting the Idol Finale's Most Stunning Segment

Last night's American Idol finale featured a deep, wide range of scene-stealers, from showstopper Norman Gentle to Katrina "Bikini Girl" Darrell's new twins. But for sheer, paralyzing drama, only one moment truly rivaled Kris Allen's Idol coronation. The footage is after the jump -- and as usual, we can thank Jerry Bruckheimer.

Cam Gigandet Exacts Sweet Revenge on Twilight Zealots

It was bound to happen eventually: The tense relationship between tweens and a Twilight idol has erupted into violence. Or at least a fantasy of violence, thrusting actor Cam Gigandet into self-defense (and self-promotion) mode against a bloodthirsty gang of girls bent on payback for his character's mistreatment of Edward Cullen. The video -- and a taste of Gigandet sightings to come, perhaps -- is after the jump.

9 Revelations From McG and Common's MySpace Heart-to-Heart

Terminator Salvation director McG and co-star Common sat recently for one of MySpace's Artist on Artist conversations, eschewing all the dick-measuring and governor-digitizing talk of recent weeks for a more organic process of creative discovery. And while their film will no doubt speak for itself when it opens tomorrow, this chat (after the jump) provides a compact, revealing addendum to their bigscreen effort -- in ways both good and bad. For starters:

Ann Curry Declares Basterds a 'Powerful Statement About Large, Big, Powerful Jews'

You've already heard what Movieline thought about the Cannes sensation without snipped genitals, but for a second opinion, we thought we'd refer you to Ann Curry. The daffy Today correspondent cornered Brad Pitt on live television this morning, then proceeded to grill the superstar about the WWII revenge fantasy as only Cannes Ann could:

Robert Downey Jr. Gets Punchy in Sherlock Holmes Trailer

The first trailer for Sherlock Holmes made its way online last night, finally offering viewers a look at Robert Downey Jr.'s shabby take on the venerable British detective. And while you won't see Guy Ritchie's name anywhere in the clip, it might be the director's quick-cut, slo-mo pulp stylings that leave the most lasting impression in advance of the film's holiday-season release. Which, for once, might not be such a bad thing.

Paris, Not France Not Interesting

Stop us if you've heard this one before: Paris Hilton isn't actually an airhead -- in reality, she's a savvy businesswoman in charge of her own brand! This is a true fact, if by "savvy businesswoman," one means, "stumbles into meeting hungover, texts up a storm while marketing team presents business plan they worked so hard on, gives dismissive wave of her hand when someone gently asks, 'Paris, your thoughts?' and finally answers, 'Hmm? Uh, OK. Whatever. Lovesit.'" Now, finally we have a trailer for Paris, Not France, the dumbly controversial documentary that purports to set the record straight on what it's like to be Hilton.

How Many Actors Can You Name in SAG's 'I'm Voting Yes' Video?

After more than a year of negotiations, internecine squabbles and pity parties, Screen Actors Guild leadership will finally issue ballots Tuesday asking members to vote on a new contract. While it's likely to find the simple majority required to pass the deal, the "Vote Yes" crowd isn't taking any chances with their wily enemies. Hence the new video gathering 34 of the contract's most vocal proponents -- if not necessarily it's best known proponents. And because Monday morning is far too important to do actual work, play along for a few minutes and test your recognition skills against your fellow Movieline readers. The video and scoring key are after the jump.
