The 9 Most Scathing Critical Responses to January Jones's Emmy Style

Listen, I am no fashion critic, and Movieline's "9 Most Scathing" feature very rarely extends beyond the realm of terrible new films. I also know our female celebrities face an endlessly difficult challenge of finding a balance between classic red-carpet appeal and envelope-pushing couture. So in that regard, I tip my cap to January Jones, whose Emmy look in Versace represented an eye-popping embrace of risk, presence, glamour and about 80 or 90 discarded blue mylar balloons. Below, Movieline ranks the most repulsive characters in last night's abominable excuse for a reality-show episode.

'Whaddya Say We Get Outta Here and Really Celebrate?': Mad Men Recapped

You know what would have been really awkward? How about if Mad Men had not earned a 2010 Emmy nomination for Best Dramatic Series (let alone a win), thus making Sunday night's episode about Don's big victory at the Clio Awards -- and the drunken two-day bender that followed -- one big swing and miss at a fat meta fastball over the heart of the plate? Then we would have had an average episode and an embarrassed Matthew Weiner, and heaven knows that just won't do.

Jimmy Fallon on the Emmys, Playing Wii with the Queen, and His Fantasy Mad Men Project

For the past two weeks, Jimmy Fallon has been spending his Late Night vacation days in Los Angeles as he prepares to host this Sunday's 62nd Emmy Awards, an esteemed gig that will put him in the company of legendary entertainers like Lucille Ball, Ed Sullivan, Frank Sinatra, and Johnny Carson. Unlike the hosts before him, the Saturday Night Live alum will be relying on his Twitter network for intros and in turn, NBC will be relying on Fallon to smoothly move the telecast along, skirting any potential grenades that the Outstanding Variety Series winner might bring.

With this in mind, Movieline caught up with the late night host at an NBC party a few weeks ago to discuss his take on award shows, his recent social networking failure, and Will Arnett's greatest Emmy diss.
