Assemble: The First Teaser Poster for The Avengers Arrives

Marvel Studios and The Avengers won't have as big of a presence at Comic-Con this weekend as they did last summer (parent company Disney has reportedly saved the Marvel Studios properties for its own D23 Expo in August), but that doesn't mean there can't be some superhero supergroup news. A new website for the Joss Whedon-directed film has debuted online, along with a teaser poster that puts the "A" in Avengers. Quite literally. Click through to assemble.

The Hunger Games Debuts Fiery Mockingjay Pin Motion Poster

If you haven't read Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games books yet, the blazing new motion poster Lionsgate debuted today for the 2012 Hunger Games film won't make much sense. Suffice to say, once you begin reading the novels, the sight of a flaming gold bird-shaped pin will stir your senses into action, the symbol of rebellion and of the series' young heroine, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence).

Poster Premiere: Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain Prepare to Take Shelter

It found critical acclaim and distributor interest this year at Sundance, then shoved off for an award-winning run at the Cannes Film Festival. And now, as writer-director Jeff Nichols's psychological drama Take Shelter prepares for its incursion into American theaters, Movieline is happy to unveil the film's first poster for your perusal.

New 50/50 Poster Previews Joseph Gordon Levitt's Baldness

You might remember a recent cancer comedy called Funny People, but I'm in favor of forgetting it and looking forward to the new Seth Rogen/Joseph Gordon-Levitt tumor laugher 50/50. It comes out Sept. 30, but for now, we may gaze into the sheared follicles on JGL's head. The grimness and tweeness should combine into an agreeable mixture I'll call (500) Days of Mysterious Skin.

Check Out the Threatening First Poster for The Thing

Forget The Dark Knight Rises; what you're really interested in this morning is some fresh artwork for the remake of The Thing! OK, probably not. But! The Thing remake is coming -- excuse me, The Thing "prelude" to the 1982 John Carpenter film is coming, and it finally has a teaser poster. One that does a good job of recalling the original, without sullying its name (cough, Straw Dogs). Click through for a look.

See the Jason Segel-Less International Poster for The Muppets

Around the halls of Movieline HQ, Jason Segel is something of a hero. After all, he's the man responsible for the wonderfully rewatchable Forgetting Sarah Marshall, as well Nick Andopolis, Marshall Eriksen and the only good moments in Bad Teacher. Oh, and a little thing called The Muppets. In the U.S. marketing for the film, Segel is front and center -- something that unfortunately isn't the case on this new international poster. Selling the Muppets with only the Muppets? Interesting decision, Disney! Click through for a look, already disappointed Jason Segel fans.

Check Out the First Posters For Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Despite its Barry Bonds-friendly title, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows has nothing in common with the controversial former slugger. Judging from the Guy Ritchie-directed first film, it might not have much in common with Arthur Conan Doyle either, but thanks to the charms of Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, that won't matter too much. The first posters for the December sequel have arrived with Downey and Law front and center -- and Jared Harris and Noomi Rapace mysteriously lurking in the background. Click through to check them out.

Here's Your First Look at the Poster for Dream House: Wake Us Up, Daniel Craig

The poster for the delayed thriller Dream House proves one thing: Daniel Craig keeps improving his Edie Falco impersonation! Note the bothered eyes, the pert lips, and that unrelentingly Falconian nose. He's sure to delight RuPaul under the moniker Carmela Baritone at this point. But that's where the good news ends. Dream House's new art -- which could be an early or unofficial release -- is full of the warped faces and coloring we expect from any spooky drama.

Director of Sarah Palin Documentary Promises More Violence in Unrated Cut

You read that right: Stephen Bannon, whose Sarah Palin documentary The Undefeated has drawn critical ire across the aisles, says an uncut version of his film will be released on demand following its PG-13 theatrical release July 15. The new cut will depict even more of the dastardly violence and vulgarity the former Alaska governor/vice presidential candidate has suffered during her rise in the public eye, including "crucifixions, lynching and suicides" sourced from social media. Pulling a classic double dip! Looks like Hollywood and its hateful methods aren't all despicable, eh?[THR]

Poster Premiere: Rachel Weisz Gets to Bottom of Things in The Whistleblower

It's been a while since we saw Rachel Weisz onscreen, what with the endless hold-ups on Dream House (co-starring her new husband Daniel Craig), her commitment to a Terrence Malick film that's in the can but will probably not be edited before, oh, 2018 or so, the limited release of Agora and the unwatchability of The Lovely Bones. Finally, though, Weisz's acclaimed 2010 Toronto Film Festival entry The Whistleblower is en route to theaters this summer. To commemorate the momentous occasion, Movieline has your first look at the film's poster.

Colin Farrell Finds His Inner Sexy Vampire in New Fright Night Character Posters

While we patiently wait out the remaining month and a half until Craig Gillespie's 3-D Fright Night hits theaters, DreamWorks has graciously delivered an apéritif of the horror comedy in the form of four blood-stained international character posters. The most entertaining of which is Colin Farrell's, who playfully nibbles on a necklace, while offering his sexiest vampire come-hither look to passersby.
