After showing off his musical comedy skills in (500) Days of Summer and on Saturday Night Live, does Joseph Gordon-Levitt have a full-blown musical in the queue? "I'd absolutely love to do more song-and-dance numbers," he told The Advocate, teasing, "I don't want to spoil it, but there is something in the works, man, and I can't wait." Get to speculating, kids... I'm going to place my money on JGL starring opposite Russell Crowe in A Star is Born's up-for-grabs love interest role. Don't pretend your ticket wouldn't be bought. [The Advocate]
From a jail cell somewhere in the New York tri-state area, Robert "Joe" Halderman is celebrating a News and Documentary Emmy nomination. The CBS News producer, who attempted to shake David Letterman down for $2 million last October, earned a nod for his 48 Hours Mystery segment about Amanda Knox (in fact, it's not even Halderman's first Emmy nomination). Congratulations, Joe! We're sure the taste of victory is better than the taste of prison meatloaf. [Deadline]
With Amy Adams the latest actress rumored to be up for a Janis Joplin biopic -- in one directed by City of God helmer Fernando Meirelles, no less -- it seems like as good a time as any to take stock in the historically difficult and diverse "casting" process to see which actress would play the late vocalist. Ahead, Movieline offers a timeline of the events -- and an index of the possibilities.

If you can't agree that Jennifer Lawrence is the best, you haven't seen Winter's Bone. If you can't agree that Jennifer Lawrence has breasts, you haven't seen her swimsuit photo portfolio in Esquire. How best to reconcile these two different sides of her? Hint: It's in the headline!

Look, we know Michael Cera can be a difficult interview (though we managed it): the star is so fond of making up wild stories and sarcastic asides that you really have to dig deep to get anything real. Pity the poor Playboy interviewer, then, who caught him on the most facetious day of his life.

The Los Angeles court has dismissed a $1 million lawsuit filed against Steven Seagal by a former assistant who claimed that her employer had sexually harassed her on repeated occasions. Seagal's attorneys had reportedly been trying to resolve the case out of court -- maybe because of the incriminating interview Jenny McCarthy gave to Movieline in 1998 about Seagal's ungentlemanly casting couch conduct. No word yet on whether A&E will order more episodes of Steven Seagal Lawman, which was pulled off the air shortly after the allegations were made. [Yahoo!]
Ryan Reynolds says, "Knucks for everybody!" Err -- that's probably not the first impression Warner Bros. wanted you to have upon seeing Reynolds wearing the Green Lantern suit, but at least it averts your attention away from the CGI-palooza of the thing. Right?

Early estimates for The Sorcerer's Apprentice's opening day are in, and they could most charitably be called "alarming": The Nicolas Cage fantasy drew $3.7 million on 3,385 screens in the U.S. and Canada, setting some five-day projections below $30 million. That would result in the second straight Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer underperformer after Prince of Persia. Clearly it needed a better iPhone app. [Deadline]
Just when Star Wars's inspiration and influence had me smiling again, along comes this more typical, souring George Lucas anecdote: Lucasfilm has issued a cease-and-desist letter to manufacturers of a mega-powerful laser being touted as a real-life lightsaber. And now it's going for $350 at eBay. The letter, that is, not the lightsaber. Click through for photos.

· Time to hit yourself ("You stupid b*tch!") for not thinking of it first: Mel Gibson's 2000 romcom What Women Want was a bearable confection when it came out, but now it's been redubbed with a few key audiotapes from the past week of insanity. Watch as Helen Hunt flashes a droll smirk after being called the worst names in the English language. [NYMag]

Though The Unusuals didn't give her the return to primetime she'd probably hoped for, Amber Tamblyn can bank on her new gig for redemption: The Joan of Arcadia star is joining House as a "whip-smart med student" in its upcoming season. Tamblyn will undoubtedly enjoy relaying this news to her father, who probably still needs a pick-me-up after their cameo together on David Cross's book jacket. [EW]
We already broke the news that Jeff Fahey was joining the insane cast of Guns, Girls, and Gambling (which stars Gary Oldman, Christian Slater, Dane Cook, and Chris Kattan), and now True Blood shape-shifter Sam Trammell has boarded the crime comedy as a peace officer who's entangled with Cook. Hopefully, it'll give him more to do than his recent, boring brother storyline on True Blood (but if any of it involves sex dreams about his costars, we're in!). [Variety]
