Tragic news out of Hollywood: Ronni Chasen, 64, a famed Hollywood publicist and a fixture on the Oscar scene, was shot multiple times in her Mercedes Benz near Sunset Boulevard and Whittier Drive on Tuesday morning. She was dead when police arrived on the scene at approximately 12:30 a.m. As of yet no suspects have been apprehended in connection to the shooting. Developing... [Deadline, LAT]

Looks like the rumors were true: Baz Luhrmann has selected Carey Mulligan for the part of Daisy Buchanan in his adaptation of The Great Gatsby. First Spiderman goes British with Andrew Garfield, and now the lead female in one of the greatest modern American novels follows suit. Get it together, America! Along with the announcement, Luhrmann included a picture of Mulligan from rehearsals that gives a taste of what may come. She certainly looks alluring and a bit ethereal here, but what do you think? Is she beautiful enough to completely wreck Leonardo DiCaprio, who is playing Gatsby? Does she trump everyone on the initial not-at-all-short list for the part?
