Adam Carolla: 'Chicks' Aren't Funny
Who would've guessed one of the guys behind The Man Show — the highbrow bastion of sensitivity and progressive thought that ended every episode with big-bosomed women jumping on trampolines — would have such animosity towards female comedians? Adam Carolla to The New York Post this week: "They make you hire a certain number of chicks, and they’re always the least funny on the writing staff. The reason why you know more funny dudes than funny chicks is that dudes are funnier than chicks. If my daughter has a mediocre sense of humor, I’m just gonna tell her, 'Be a staff writer for a sitcom. Because they'll have to hire you, they can’t really fire you, and you don’t have to produce that much. It’ll be awesome.'" [NYP]

You sure he wasn't joking? I listen to his show every now and then and he talks about how talented and funny Tina Fey is, or Lisa Lampanelli. He has a lot of them on his show, too.
No, he wasn't joking. He's vomitious human being who's isn't very fond of women in general. You should hear the way he talks about his wife. I'm a big Howard Stern fan and the only time I can't listen to the show is when Adam Corolla comes on. He's not even worth the time it took to write this comment. But there are a lot of misogynistic and homophobic bigots out there so he'll always have a healthy audience.
Adam always puts these loud unfunny cunts in check: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5OdQGbVNa4
Humor is so subjective, it's hard to prove or disprove Carolla here. One thing for sure, there are a lot more successful male comics than female comics. Even the supposedly good female comedy types usually aren't that great. Amy Poehler, I'm looking at you. (Of course, to some Poehler is comedy gold, but not for me. She tries so so hard for laughs, but comes up short).
But Tina Fey is often hilarious. And Melissa McCarthy! She rules. I wonder if twenty years from now, we'll all be saying women are funnier than men?
Maybe Carolla just saw 5 minutes of Kristin Wiig's attempts at humor. That would create enough animosity to put down an entire sex.
Have to agree. Never really saw that much humor in Wiig on SNL or in the movies. To each his/her own, though.
Kirstin Wiig is not all women. I would never say men aren't as funny as women, despite Adam Carolla's best efforts to prove it.
As a generality, he's got something. But, there are too many exceptions to the 'rule.' Carolla is most certainly playing up his opinion. Funny thing is, i only clicked on this 'story' because it echoes comments a college friend used to make: something like: "you know what sucks about female comediennes? They're just not funny." And we laughed, because there's a bit of truth in that. But, as mentioned, there's Tina Fey. There was Paula Poundstone back in the day. Whitney Cummings is funny. Wiig and Amy Poehler did great things on SNL. Go back to Gilda Radner.... Go further back, and Ginger Rogers was one of the best comedic actors....
But, yeah - it's rare that you find a truly funny woman. When you do, though, bonus points galore.
The late Christopher Hitchens said essentially the same thing. He said that it is not necessary for women to be funny in order to find a mate. In an evolutionary sense, it's not a necessary part of their makeup. Men who are not overwhelmingly good-looking, for example, can still be attractive by having a sense of humour. So Adam is correct, as usual. Listen to him for a while, you'll see how smart he is. Jimmy Kimmel is hugely successful, and he was the co-creator of The Man Show. along with Adam. They're both highly intelligent men.
Jimmy Kimmel's head writer for his show is a woman. She's also his girlfriend.
Here are Christopher's comments on the matter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7izJggqCoA
I'm female. He's right. The only ones arguing to the contrary are unfunny, hypersensitive females and millennial beta males trying to get laid.
