Patton Oswalt Rounds Up Academy Snubculture For the Only Oscar Party Worth Attending
Thanks to the wonders of Twitter, we already know how Albert Brooks feels about this morning's brutal Oscar-nomination snub. But how is the rest of the Academy's snubculture faring? We may never know entirely, but at least their unofficial ambassador Patton Oswalt has the fan-fiction angle covered -- and it sounds like this group has the Governors Ball beat.
Join me for a drink at The Drawing Room, @AlbertBrooks? Me and Serkis have been here since 6am.
@AlbertBrooks See you later tonight. Might be out of booze -- Serkis has Pogues on the jukebox & Fassbender just showed up in a pirate hat.
@AlbertBrooks Oh shit -- we're DEFINITELY going to run out of booze. Charlize & Tilda just pulled up in a stolen police car.
@AlbertBrooks Dude, GET DOWN HERE. Gosling is doing keg stands and Olsen & Dunst LITERALLY just emerged from a shower of rose petals.
@AlbertBrooks Nolte & Plummer just drove past, mooning us. Serkis & Tilda are signing "Is There Life on Mars?"
@AlbertBrooks Oops -- Von Trier just pulled up in a pass van dressed as Goering. "Let's go to Legoland!" With a boozy hurrah, we're out!

Yes, Patton, you were very good in the very entertaining (to me) Young Adult, the first movie that made me like Charlize Theron (a couple amateurish continuity issues in there, though, Reitman). But c'mon, Albert, I love you (you're Hank Scorpio, for chrissake!), but playing against type in a good/interesting but not great '80s-style music video does not a nomination make. I'll buy you one drink each. But only one!
They should all dress as apes and start overturning things in LA.
These are my favorite things from today.
Wow, this is a fictional party I would so like to attend. Fassbender is a pirate hat? I'm there. Plus, I think it is a typo, but I love the idea of Swinton and Serkis doing a sign language version of "Life on Mars" (vs. singing it).
Ceci n'est pas une typo.
OMG, these are hilarious...I wish more than anything that this actually happened
These are NOT hilarious. Patton Oswalt is the most annoying celeb on Twitter.
Just like you don't ask a fat person for restaurant suggestions, you don't ask the humorless for Twitter recommendations. Just saying...
