    No recognition for MEEK'S CUTOFF?

  • Nathalie says:

Well it looks like I'm going to have to see "Take Shelter."

  • Nathalie says:

Also no "Tree of Life"? Was it not eligible, or is this a snub?

  • S.T. VanAirsdale says:

RE Meeks Cutoff and Tree of Life, keep in mind that many of these noms/awards are determined by who buys how many tables at the event, or what talent is promised to show up, etc etc. Not to be totally cynical about it, either -- surprises and special notices always pop up -- but I can't think of a single genuinely meritocratic awards fete between Oct. and Feb.

  • glebe says:

Meek's Cutoff was eligible last year and was up for a producer's award.
Tree of Life was well over the budget cap of $20 million.
The surprise to me is that The Artist is considered American.

  • Nathalie says:

Thanks. I figured it was probably disqualified in some way, but didn't know the rules.
