John Landis Remembers Eddie Murphy As a Jerk
"When I made Trading Places, Eddie was 19 or 20 and bouncing off the wall with talent and was a very happy guy," John Landis recalled recently about this year's Academy Award host drop-out. "When I made Coming to America, it was a few years later, Eddie had become an international star and was not as happy. It was awkward on that film because he was kind of a jerk, and we had a real falling out. But still we worked together very well." [NYT]

Notice how he leaves off Beverly Hills Cop 3 entirely, which means that even its' makers have chosen to forget about it, as much of the audience did too.
Eddie should have been grateful that Landis didn't add a helicopter scene just for spite.
Too soon...
I knew you were going to say that!
I'm not firing on all cylinders today, so, be content w/ this meager, "Zing!"
I'm glad someone mentioned it.
Eddie Murphy may very well be a pompous jerk (unfortunately, Hollywood is full of them), but at least he didn't kill anyone on set due to his own negligence.
For that, Landis is more of a jerk. He should ask himself why there's a rift between him and Spielberg.
Landis was told he was running a dangerous set, but he didn't care.
Whats up! I just wish to give an enormous thumbs up for the great info you have here on this post. I will likely be coming back to your blog soon.
