Bromantic Shenanigans Get Dark in Exclusive Images from I Melt With You
I Melt With You, Mark Pellington's dark -- and I mean way dark -- meditation on midlife crises and male bonding, proved to be decidedly difficult stuff for many critics Sundance Film Festival debut last January. Back then I wrote in favor of giving its existential punk romanticism a chance to make its case (especially if you're a fan of folks like Jeremy Piven, who turns in a great face-melting performance). You'll finally get your chance to weigh in on the IMWY debate this fall as the film makes its way to VOD and limited theatrical release; get in the spirit with three new stills that highlight the trajectory of Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe, Christian McKay, and Piven's bromantic weekend of horrors.
It's best to avoid plot details where I Melt With You is concerned, but suffice to say that things don't exactly end well after college pals Ron (Piven), Jonathan (Lowe), Tim (McKay), and Richard (Jane) reunite for a cocaine-fueled binge of partying and shenanigans.

The official synopsis:
Richard (Thomas Jane), Ron (Jeremy Piven), Jonathan (Rob Lowe) and Tim (Christian McKay) are old college friends that gather annually for a bacchanalian week in Big Sur to celebrate their friendship and catch-up on each other's lives. They seem like typical men in their forties - all with careers, families, and enormous responsibilities - but like most people there is a lot more beneath the surface.
As the week progresses, they go down the rabbit hole of excess as mountains of drugs are consumed to a blaring rock 'n' roll soundtrack. Parties with much younger women spin out of control. Exhausted, they begin to bare their souls and the reunion suddenly takes a much darker turn. When a promise from their past is brought into the present, they begin to realize that none of their lives will ever be the same. From director Mark Pellington, I MELT WITH YOU is a visually dazzling, wild and wooly trip deep into the male psyche, driven by four amazingly committed and profound performances.
I Melt With You is available on VOD via Magnolia On-Demand beginning November 4, and will be in limited release December 9.
