Watch Spoiler-y and Intriguing International Trailer for In Time
· With an all-star cast of up-and-comers (Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Cillian Murphy, Vincent Kartheiser, Alex Pettyfer and Matt Bomer) and Andrew Niccol (Gattaca) behind the camera/typewriter, In Time is potentially one of the more intriguing releases of the fall. Either that or a silly and overwrought mess of hacky future touches. Judging from the new international trailer intriguing could win out, but be careful: heavy spoilers await. Is it because I linked to the TED website? I wouldn't think that qualifies as spam.
"In Time" loses me right out of the gate: Timberlake, with his whiny, childish voice: No. Ditto for Seyfried. And "generalized immortality" would never happen... unless it was via reproductive exchange: You want to keep your fertility? You don't get to live forever. We're already breeding like cockroaches; we're worse than cockroaches, in fact: at least roaches aren't strip-mining the entire planet. So, premise-wise and cast-wise (I would normally show up for anything with Cillian Murphy in it, but here he's obviously sleepwalking through a rote, cliched villain role), the whole thing is one big "nuh-uh."
