Lars Von Trier Upset That Norway's Mass Murderer Loved Dogville
"I feel badly about thinking that Dogville, which in my eyes is one of my most successful films, should have been a kind of script for him. It's horrific," director Lars von Trier said about the fact that Dogville was revealed to be one of Norwegian camp killer Anders Behring Breivik's favorite films. "[I]f it was an inspiration, I'm sorry that I made it. But of course I have educational purposes with my films, even if I hesitate to admit it, and my views are the complete opposite of Breivik and his deeds." Dogville ends with Nicole Kidman's character ordering the massacre of the village that abused her. [Hollywood-Elsewhere]

"Dogville was not meant to encourage Norwegians to mass-murder other Norwegians! Dogville was meant to be a movie encouraging foreigners to mass-murder Americans! Dogville is an homage to Hitler, who I admire very much, as you all know. Like Hitler, I painted an entire people, in this case Americans, as either rapists (male Americans), sniveling rapists-to-be (1% of the adult male population and all male children) or as evil bitches (female Americans). And with an exaggeration not seen since Nazi Germany, I proved why they all deserved to be exterminated." - Lars von Trier
Was it really necessary to mention the ending of the movie?
Uh, yeah! Cuz it's the same as what the Norwegian d-bag did. Hopefully this will keep others from now seeing Dogville.
