· It may have gotten even easier to connect Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds to Kevin Bacon in the supporting actor's titular parlor game. Bacon is in talks to join Bridges and Reynolds as the villain in R.I.P.D., the supernatural comic book adaptation about a dead cop trying to find the man that killed him. Movieline hero Robert Schwentke directs (Schwentke!) from a script by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. Bacon co-stars as the "other man" in Crazy, Stupid, Love. in theaters this weekend; funny how the casting announcement coincides with that release. Bacon synergy! [Variety]
· "We're going to do a movie," Entourage creator Doug Ellin told critics during the TCA press tour. "We're going to do it, the question is when and how quickly. Hopefully we'll come down with an idea and make it happen." Said executive producer Mark Wahlberg, "If I had to finance it myself, I would do it. I've been telling Doug, The Hangover is to me very much like Entourage, and look at all the recent success of R-rated movies." That quote seemed to get a lot of snickers from the assembled critical community on Twitter, but really: isn't Entourage a little like The Hangover? · This is a totally fine idea: "CJ E&M Pictures and Grapevine Entertainment have attached Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) to direct 1950, the largest budgeted project ever undertaken by the Korean film industry, at $100m. Production is expected to begin in May 2012 with a planned release date of spring 2013. An untold story of courage and endurance during the Korean War, 1950 is an epic adventure, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning dispatches from the front line by legendary New York Herald Tribune correspondent Marguerite Higgins." Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Anthony Mackie, Giovani Ribisi and Michael Pena co-star, with -- bless my stars; a lady! -- Emma Stone in talks for the female lead. [Variety]
· Summit Entertainment has attached Antoine Fuqua to an adaptation of John Huddy's non-fiction book Storming Las Vegas: How a Cuban-Born, Soviet-Trained Commando Took Down The Strip to the Tune of Five World Class Hotels, Three Armored Cars, and Millions of Dollars, about a Cuban-born, Soviet-trained commando who took down the Strip to the tune of five world class hotels, three armored cars, and millions of dollars. Fox Searchlight has moved the George Clooney-lead The Descendants to Nov. 23 from Dec. 16, CBS Films is shifting The Woman in Black with Daniel Radcliffe from Jan. 20, 2012 to Feb. 3, 2012, and Sony has set Oct. 13, 2013 for Kathryn Bigelow's untitled Osama Bin Laden film.
