· What is the world coming to? (Goodfellas reference.) According to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles this week Joe Pesci is suing Fiori Films because they reneged on the deal he signed to star as Angelo Ruggiero in Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father. The suit claims that Pesci was to earn $3 million to co-star -- and even went so far as to gain 30 pounds to play the husky Ruggiero -- but Fiore Films pulled the deal and offered him less money to play the lesser role of Anthony "Gaspipe" Casso. For his part, Marc Fiore, CEO of Fiore Films, says Pesci walked away from the contract himself. "He's wasting his time and everybody else's time," Fiore said to the AP.

"I might be a newbie in town. This newbie is not going to get bulled around." Tell that to Spider. [AP via Deadline]

· In non-legal news: Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassel are in talks to join the already-in-talks James McAvoy in Trance for director Danny Boyle. The Fox Searchlight film is about an art heist that goes wrong. Don't they all. [Deadline]

· Movieline fave Alia Shawkat has booked two new films. She'll co-star with Paul Dano and Annette Bening in the Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris-directed He Loves Me. Shawkat will also co-star with Juno Temple and Michael Angarano in The Brass Teapot, a "darkly comic morality tale." [Variety]

· Rise of the Planet of the Apes star David Oyelowo has landed a big role in Lee Daniels's The Paperboy. He'll play a reporter who teams up with another writer (Matthew McConaughey) to clear the name of a death row inmate (John Cusack). [Deadline]

· Release dates, get your release dates! Paramount has moved Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol from Dec. 16 to Dec. 21, where it will go up against The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. The studio has also set a date for their next Tom Cruise offering: One Shot -- with Cruise as six-foot-five drifter Jack Reacher -- will open Feb. 8, 2013. Meanwhile, the studio has switched the Jon M. Chu-directed G.I. Joe sequel to June 29, 2012. If that date sounds familiar, that's because Paramount had initially set Star Trek 2 for June 29, 2012. The sequel will now get released in the fourth quarter of 2012 or summer of 2013. [Deadline, Deadline]

· Team Jacki, FTW! Deadline reports that Jacki Weaver has joined the cast of Stoker, the Shadow of a Doubt-inspired thriller co-starring Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman and Matthew Goode. Chan-wook Park directs from a script by Wentworth Miller. [Deadline]
