Beyonce Opens Up About A Star is Born Remake, But Is She Right?
There is no denying Beyonce's talent, stardom, or status as an enduring stronghold in show business, but would you call her "a new talent [that] represents a generation"? Because in a new interview about her role in Clint Eastwood's A Star is Born remake, she kinda claims to be just that.
According to Reuters, Beyonce's appreciation of A Star is Born is pretty comprehensive. It's when she starts comparing herself to Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand that I chafe just slightly.
"It's when I became a fan of Barbra Streisand's. And I then saw Judy Garland's version of 'A Star Is Born' and I realized every 20 to 30 years a new star is born and a new talent represents that generation and era -- so I didn't think that I would ever get the opportunity to be the star," she said.
"I met with Clint and I was so nervous and I know that it is the biggest opportunity of my life. I will work as hard as I can," she said. "Because I can't wait. And I am so happy that he trusts me and I am in good hands and I am so fortunate."
First of all, no one becomes a fan of Barbra Streisand after watching A Star is Born. That's just impossible. Secondly, I don't know if "representing" an era as a "new star" is the right way to put it; the A Star is Born franchise is actually about established entertainers who've been famous for at least a decade. From Janet Gaynor to Judy Garland to Streisand, that's been the case. Hopefully Beyonce knocks it out of the park with the soundtrack single. I can hear it now: "Loveee... bootylicious as an easy chair..."

What an apt comparison! All three can sing! All three can act... oh, wait, I just watched Steve Martin's Pink Panther... nevermind.
I try not to follow the nightmare that is B'weave but I've unfortunately had the pleasure of reading some of her interviews and she has to be the stupidest person to ever achieve her level of success. She comes off as someone with a fourth grade education. It's depressing.
SOunds like someone is JEALOUS...lol I pity ignorant people like you. I guess you have to find something negative to say to make you feel better about yourself. lol
Wow, you sound insecure! If you think that that's absolutely okay, but do your research and stop hating on someone who has done wonders for the world with her amazing talent. Okay so go see a therapist and become more secure with who you are before you can judge!
If you read the article correctly, she's not comparing herself to Barbara or Judy. She said after becoming a fan of these two great talents, "so I didn’t think that I would ever get the opportunity to be the star” , meaning she felt like she did not compare. Obviously Clint felt different. He came to her, she did not go to him. I hate when quotes are taken out of context!
Well actually Beyonce joined this film in 2008 and Clint Eastwood was added later so he didn't exactly come to her.
everything beyonce do she affects someone and im sure this movie is going to be another, but bigger succses
I usually don't comment on things like this but let's be real. First of all I feel her remake is going to be great. She's had a lot of time to grow and I think this is the right move for her. She's been in the business for 16 years now.
2nd of all, she sounds humble and not like she's comparing herself to them. Let's not twist her words around. And she is a star!
3rd, Bootylicious was 10 years ago, she's grown way beyond that. I highly doubt the soundtrack will sound anything like it. Let's move on. Give her a chance to prove herself, please.
In my personal opinion, I think Beyonce is perfect for this role. I'm not ashamed to say that I consider myself a cultured, educated person, and as someone who has appreciated and been a long time fan of Judy Garlands work in "A Star is Born" I could not think of anyone who would be more perfect then Beyonce to carry on the mantle of her pre-deccessors. I firstly hate how people always say she sounds "stupid" in her interviews, I'm not sure how you glean that seeming as she is always polite, well mannered and as usual intensley private about most of her personal life, I'm not sure whether you're expecting her to spill out a detailed thesis every time she speaks, but compared to the mindless drivel that comes out of some of her counter parts mouths I find she is on the contrary quite an intelligent woman who needs to prove nothing by trying to make herself appear more or less intelligent in her interviews. Secondly, it might be easy to bring up movies like "Carmen" "Austen Powers" or "The Pink Panther" - all movies she starred in while she was still a teen, but you can't deny that her acting has grown since then, her performance in cadilac records was fantastic, maybe still had a few kinks to work out, but it was a role she delved into, I'm not saying that she is now "up there" with the likes of the acting greats, but she does take her acting seriously, and you can see she is trying, a movie like "A Star is Born" is a smart move as she is probably more suited to a role like this, even though it will be gold to see of she takes less glamorous parts in the future.
