Watch Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz in the Dream House Trailer: Dead Again
Daniel Craig is the sort of mensch who I'd like to believe can do wrong. Unfortunately, when you're in everything, infallibility is not an option. The new trailer for Dream House, the sepia-postered film exhibits a few contrivances that I'd expect from -- well, a by-the-book psychodrama with a September release date. But I admit, the trailer is entertaining, even if it's a note-for-note reiteration of a movie that came out almost 10 years ago to this day.
So, hi. Let's number our woes.
1. There is a bald man who looks like James Taylor at 1:53. Don't know what to say about that.
2. The Others MUCH? Don't bring up dead kids, dead wives, and haunted estates without expecting a Kidmanesque gape cast your way, film. Furthermore, I seem to remember the trailers for The Others not giving away the climactic twist. Or any of the paranormal elements in play. Maybe the whole movie isn't revealed here, but why kind of twist can possibly await? "You're all... not really dead after all!"
3. 2001 was also the year of the spookhouse caper The Glass House, which is too bad for that year.
4. What if the movie was called Mr. Blandings Haunts His 'Dream House'? Cute.
5. Can't pick a favorite slab of dialogue between "You live in this house and you don't know about the murders?" and "Everyone who lives in this house gets killed" (delivered with a cloying child-actor coo that even Michelle Tanner would've found grating).
6. The colors are nice.
VERDICT: Board up the windows.
Head over to Apple to watch in HD.

I don't know what's the matter with you people but isn't Naomi Watts, the 2nd lead of this film, in the trailer?
Amityville Horror VIII
I could barely read the article through all that smugness.
