Twilight Hotel Fire Damages Precious Ground Where Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Once Slow-Danced
If you were planning a pilgrimage to the View Point Inn in Corbett, Ore. this summer to hyperventilate over the plot of land where Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart shared their prom kiss in Twilight, you might want to make different arrangements. Tragically, the View Point Inn suffered a fire yesterday that left "sizable damage" to the movie landmark.
According to EW, the Multnomah County Fire Department arrived at the historic hotel yesterday morning at 11:49 a.m. after fireplace particles ejected from the chimney caught fire on the inn's roof. The incident -- which resulted in significant damage to the roof as well as the attic and the third floor (which were both gutted) -- was declared an accident. Water and smoke damage have ravaged some of the inn's lower levels.
Even before this weekend's fire, the building's owner and operator Geoff Thompson had been asking for donations to help restore the structure, which was built in 1924.
