Does Fire With Fire Have the Most Random Cast Ever Assembled?

rosariodawson-300.jpgEarlier this year, your friendly editors at Movieline wondered whether the cast of The Big Bang (with Snoop Dogg, Antonio Banderas, Sam Elliott, James Van Der Beek and Autumn Reeser) was more random than the cast of the animated film Dorothy of Oz (Lea Michele, Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Dan Aykroyd, Hugh Dancy, Oliver Platt, Megan Hilty and Martin Short). Well, it looks like the cast of Fire With Fire trumps them both. Put together.

As Variety reports, Rosario Dawson (your future Huma Abedin) has been added to the indie drama as the female lead, opposite previously cast Josh Duhamel (good take-off), Bruce Willis (cruising altitude), and... 50 Cent (the wing just fell off).

Things turn into a fever dream from there: Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (The A-Team, UFC) co-stars, as do Vincent D'Onofrio, Richard Schiff, Vinnie Jones, Bonnie Sommerville. Also, NFL All-Pro cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha makes his acting debut in Fire With Fire, because why wouldn't he?

The film is about a "fireman in the witness protection program (Duhamel) who takes matters into his own hands when he's threatened by the man against whom he's set to testify." That sounds good and all, but with this cast maybe something along the lines of It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World would be more appropriate.

Where's Mike Ovitz when you need him?

When will these stupid idiots in Hollywood stop hiring any rapper or athelete they can get their hands on? They only come off as pandering in an attempt to "broaden the market" and draw in the "urban" moviegoer. There have been few singers of ANY era (Sinatra, Tom Waits, Dwight Yoakam, Will Smith, Jennifer Hudson, Mos Def, etc.) who have shown they have real, sustainable acting chops, and .50 isn't one of them. STOP trying to make this jackass a movie star.
