Is Cameron Diaz the New Goldie Hawn?

But perhaps the best (and funniest) work of both actresses occurs when they get to exercise dismissive self-righteousness. When Hawn and Diaz get cold and superior, they steal the show in ways that few other actresses are even allowed to attempt. In Overboard -- which remains the most underrated work in Hawn's filmography -- Hawn elevates a standard amnesiac role to flippant new heights. "This missing link person is not my husband!" In Bad Teacher, Diaz can't be bothered to raise an eyelid or lower a middle finger as the scowling Elizabeth Halsey. Even in the trailer for this weekend's new comedy, she dismisses every do-gooder -- the roles she and Hawn usually play time and again -- with salable snark.

No, but Ana Faris is! Diaz is not even close. This article is a little late in her career isn't it?

  • Obee Juan Kenobi says:

The new Goldie Hawn is Anna Faris, not Cameron Diaz. Cameron Diaz is simply Cameron Diaz.

  • JaySin420 says:

I think it's a good comparison, they're both hot and funny and have been around a while.
And yea Faris might fit better, but she hasn't been around long enough.

  • happygolucky says:

The similarity that I detect is that Diaz, like Hawn, is comfortable in her own skin.

  • Citizen Bitch says:

    They both have blonde hair.

Kate Hudson is going to be so pissed when she finds out she's not the new Goldie Hawn.

  • Morganlefey says:

Interesting comparison. I do appreciate the mention of Overboard (one of my all-time guilty pleasure movies)...

  • Louis Virtel says:

But Anna Faris is too cheeky. Like, grossout, utterly bawdy humor -- though hilarious. Hawn and Diaz balance bubbly and subversive more comparably.

  • Mooshki says:

I mostly agree with this, but I don't think Cameron is quite as likeable. She has a bit of iciness to her sometimes.
