Sad Man Thinks He's Written Ferris Bueller 2
Meet screenwriter Rick Rapier: "There is definite interest in my Ferris sequel. Big name production companies that have first-look production deals with Paramount are reading the script. Your readers would know either their names or have seen movies they've produced, some of them classics. [...] We have high hopes that one or more will take an interest, and that Paramount brass will go for it on their advice." Mm-hmm. Here's a palate cleanser, when you're ready. Is it me, or does this article just feel angry for no reason. You guys didn't even say he supplied the original website with a full script and they're showing the first 12 pages. No reason to be dicks to a guy that thinks he has something.
I'm confused as to what has changed since the story was first mentioned by the author in 2007 and today other than the fact that the opening 12 pages do not completely match the scene he posted 4 years ago.
I thought that spec sequels were a fine way to get noticed but the chances of them ever getting made was slim.
I read what was posted and it is all very well trying to bring everyone back but Hughes is dead, Charlie Sheen is, well, Charlie Sheen and Jeffrey Jones is a convicted child pornographer. Doesn't make for a great start.
However, I'd still read the whole thing if it ever surfaced 🙂
Gotta say, I kind of agree with this post. The head line seems a little snarky.
The guy's a writer who has miraculously drummed up some interest (one way or another) so why fault him for that?
The opening 12 pages posted on the site "felt" like the characters we remember and love.
Hopefully he's right. There are a lot of people who'd welcome a "Ferris+25" I think.
I grew up with a guy that was the orginal ferris. He was friends with everyone, would have great parties at his parents house, and always got out of the worst situations. After school he went on to start an advertising agency that was fairly successful - then one day got a call that he inherited mineral rights and was now heir to a oil fortune. They should find him and create the screen play on his life.
