It's Never Too Soon to Handicap the Razzies
Weinsteinian Oscar speculation is fine and all, but what about the Razzies? "[A]s a Razzie pro," writes Dan Kois, "I'd say this: Don't sleep on Atlas Shrugged: Part I. It has a tiny profile, earning only $4.6 million at the box office, but it got a lot of highbrow press coverage for its awfulness. And unlike all these other movies, Atlas won't confuse voters come nomination day. I think it might be this year's The Hottie and the Nottie -- a real Little Movie That Can't!" And a breath of fresh Razzie air to boot! For your consideration, indeed. [Grantland]

I despise the Razzies. It would be one thing if they were funny, accurate, or in any way insightful. They always pick worst actors based on a role, not a performance, so why not pick worst writing instead? They're stupid: I hated this movie so you should too. I have never seen any of the Twilight movies and doubt I ever will, but that doesn't mean I think they're horrible. I'm just not the right audience for them. Halle Berry did a good job in "Catwoman" - it was just a terrible movie (yet her horribly stiff performance as Storm in the X-Men movies didn't get noticed). I'm all for trashing famous people, because that's so cool and mature. But the Razzies don't even do a good job of it.
I hope everyone realizes that the prime reason that Atlas got such poor reviews is because the film's message doesn't go along with the message of the liberal publications for whom the reviewers write. If you look on Flixter, User Reviews of Atlas Shrugged are 80% positive
Who (the hell) is Dan Kois?
