Zach Galifianakis Reveals Potential Plot for The Hangover Part III, Makes Awkward Gay Joke

zachgalifianakis300.jpgTo the surprise of no one, The Hangover Part III continues to be a thing. "They want to do a Hangover III," Zach Galifianakis told Rolling Stone. "I'm getting fricking phone calls already." Per the hirsute star, the third film would potentially revolve around Phil and Stu (Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms) breaking Galifianakis' Alan out of a mental institution. Which, sure. What's really interesting about the interview, however, is Galifianakis' awkward encounter with Jane Lynch and Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Only segments of the Rolling Stone cover interview are online, but in one, Galifianakis recalls a failed attempt at humor during an after party for the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

At the after party he wandered down to the pool and bumped into Jane Lynch and her wife and Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his boyfriend. "Nice to meet you!" he said to the group. "I didn't realize it was Gay Night by the swimming pool." At the time, he saw nothing wrong with the exchange. "I walked away like, 'Another good one!'" he says. "But my girlfriend said, 'I gotta tell you, Zach - that did not go over well. You have to watch people's reactions!'"

Ooof. At least it's not difficult to picture Galifianakis giving himself a congratulatory fist-pump amid the horrified faces of Lynch and Ferguson?

Wait, what's the point of this article (as in point-you-are-trying-to-convey, not point of existing (well, a little bit the former too I guess (bracketsbrackets)))? You've taken two unrelated things from an article on a guy and posted them together without really saying anything. I sense some snark, but it's all of the "Which, sure." and rhetorical question variety.

I like Zach Galifianakis fine, But I thought he sounded like a HUGE dickhead in that Rolling Stone interview.

  • TN says:

maybe I shouldn't hold that against him, Rolling Stone has a bad habbit of dickhead-ifying everyone they interview.

  • Christopher Rosen says:

Galifianakis is such a tone guy, it feels like a lot of his humor gets lost in the print translation. At least to me.

  • ILDC says:

How would they explain "The Hangover" in the title?
