Sneak Previews Bringing Super 8 to Select Theaters a Day Early

Paramount apparently can't help but be rattled by the scurrilous Super 8 box-office skeptics in their midst, thus announcing a slate of Thursday "sneak previews" co-presented by Twitter. About 300 theaters nationwide will be taking part in the screenings, some of which begin as early as the 10 A.M. hour in both IMAX and standard-screen venues. I don't know about this whole silly hashtag/ticket promotion they're going on about; it's a lot easier just to visit Fandango and search for an open screening near you. You get a complimentary popcorn with another concession purchase, and you get a head start on a movie that should (and had better, for Paramount's sake) be seen and discussed well into this weekend and beyond.

HOLLYWOOD, CA (June 8, 2011) - Paramount Pictures and Twitter jointly announced today sneak preview showings of the movie SUPER 8 for 1-day only on Thursday, June 9th, in advance of the film's scheduled nationwide release on Friday, June 10th. To promote the sneak previews, the companies have designated the hashtag #Super8Secret, which Paramount has also sponsored as a Promoted Trend, allowing Twitter's global user base a direct link to buy tickets to the advanced previews.
