Reese Witherspoon Could Be Invited to Bachelor Party Comedy, and 5 Other Stories You'll Be Talking About Today

reesewitherspoon-300.jpgAlso in this Wednesday edition of The Broadsheet: Judd Apatow adds some familiar faces to his next film... the Tron: Legacy sequel hires a writer... Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will get a reboot... and more ahead.

· Fresh off the success of Bridesmaids, DreamWorks has acquired Who Invited Her?, a wedding-themed, female-centric comedy pitch from writer Sascha Rothchild that Reese Witherspoon will produce as a potential star vehicle. The premise is kinda funny and original on first glance: Invited centers on a woman who decides to come along during a guy's bachelor party weekend. How has that never been thought of before? [Variety]

· The charm quotient of Judd Apatow's untitled Knocked Up follow-up could potentially go through the roof. The writer/director is negotiating with Bridesmaids co-star Chris O'Dowd for a role in his new film, as well as Lena Dunham, Charlyne Yi and Wyatt Russell (son of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn). They would join Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Megan Fox and Albert Brooks in the cast. [Variety]

· Youngster Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, The Road) is in early discussions to join the Hailee Steinfeld-led adaptation of Romeo & Juliet as Benvolio, Romeo's cousin. Meanwhile, Steinfeld is still waiting for her Romeo; the role hasn't been cast. Wherefore art thou? [Variety]

· You're getting another TRON! David DiGilio has been hired by Disney to write the sequel to Tron: Legacy. End of line. [THR/Heat Vision]

· In other screenwriting news, Brad Caleb Kane (Fringe) will write the Twentieth Century Fox reboot of Daredevil for director David Slade. Kane will focus on Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli's "Born Again" series for the script. Depending on your nerd level, this news may excite you. [THR/Heat Vision]

· More screenwriting news! Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec -- the pair behind Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol -- will write the reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Paramount. Here at Movieline, we wish them Turtle Power. [Deadline]

Born Again is (in my opinion) the best Daredevil story ever, and probably the best thing Frank Miller has done (except maybe Batman: Year One). If the film can capture the themes and style, I'll watch it FOR EVAR.
Also, if someone wants to see a funny film about a woman intruding on a guys weekend, I'd recommend just watching 'Hunting Trip' from the second season of Parks and Recreation three times.

That episode is brillz. How about we just make this movie with Amy Poehler and Aubrey Plaza and be done with it.
