In Honor of The Human Centipede II, 12 Other Films Banned by the UK

Earlier this week, the British Board of Film Classification refused to approve The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) for public distribution on DVD, meaning that the British people will not be able to add the gross-out sequel to their home library anytime soon -- legally, at least. As disappointing as this is for Tom Six fans, this is not the first time that the UK has banned a film because of illicit content and it won't be the last. As such, let's remember nine other films that were prohibited overseas.

Note: Some of the censored titles have since been un-banned in the UK, meaning that Human Centipede fans might one day be able to own the "depraved," "sexually violent" and "tasteless" sequel that Tom Six has said makes the original look like My Little Pony. No _Salò_? Come on!

I don't view Clockwork Orange as being banned when it was just Kubrick's wishes that it not be shown.
Is Straw Dogs still banned? I know one of the few things that the BBFC will still ban something for is sexual violence.
I haven't heard of Mikey so I shall see if it is on Netflix. It's ban doesn't surprise me. I am sure after the Bulger murders and Child's Play being banned anything that involves child murderers is going to be looked at closely.

I bet the entire multiverse will ban The Human Centipede III.

We can only hope, ILDC. We can only hope.

SD, the BBFC finally certified the unedited version of Straw Dogs for VHS and DVD in 2002.

  • AS says:

Gigli has also been banned, but for different reasons.

Thanks Julie, that was just after I moved over to the states so I missed that.
