Dragon Tattoo Pundit Pummels Poster Porn

"I've already started to read posts about how hot Rooney [Mara] is with her nipple ring on full display. That's enough to start my blood boiling. Lisbeth [Salander] is not supposed to be hot. That's one of the reasons why we love her so much. She doesn't play by the rules and now we have a poster that puts her right back into the girl box. Disappointment is a wild understatement for what I am feeling." [Women and Hollywood]

I don't think that she looks hot. I think she looks frail and helpless and needs protecting.
Luckily Daniel Craig is there to wrap a strong protective arm around her.
In my mind this is worst than making her look attractive.

  • HC says:

agreed, I was disappointed with the poster. Why again is Lisbeth bare-chested?? Gotta make sure the "weird, emo girl" is still kinda hot and bro-tastic.

  • Liana says:

She's half-naked to make an unnecessary remake appeal to at least part of the population, of course.

  • AS says:

Well fuck the haters, I'm a fan of the poster. Dark, kinda cool, and what's better than a sexy Rooney Mara T O P L E S S with a nipple ring. How could anyone complain, except of course uptight women.

  • Robert Spangler says:

As I already posted on my facebook page.....She didn't even have boobs until she bought them (after the first book).

  • DL says:

Consensual sexuality was as large a part (or larger) of the books than the infamous non-consensual encounter or the nature of the "villain." Lisbeth was a very sexual being (as was Blomkvist), and they were both empowered in it. It makes the fact that she essentially "takes back" her sexuality from you-know-who more significant. However, virtually all of this was omitted from the films - Blomkvist's relationships, Lisbeth's relationships (Mimi excluded), and the sexual factor of their relationship with one another. Sex is one of the few ways Lisbeth knows how to relate to people, but she is powerful in her sexuality in ways she is impotent in conveying herself through an interpersonal relationship. I don't think the poster is in any way derogatory or harmful towards the Lisbeth character - if anything, I just question who this sort of marketing is geared towards. And for the record, I think she looks quite cool, calm, even disaffected in typical Lisbeth fashion. Not like she needs to be protected. If anything, Blomkvist is hiding behind her, asking Lisbeth to protect him. That's my opinion.

    Well-stated and well-informed. Not in any way a knee-jerk, vitriol-laced, incendiary post.
    Thank you.

  • Martini Shark says:

So we get to see her nipple rings, but not the titular tattoo?! This is an outrage! Exploiting her sexually was clearly done in order to get free press for the film! (wife was in the room, had to sound indignant.)

  • Chasmosaur says:

If you go back and re-read the first book, Armansky describes her and points out that despite the extreme clothes and makeup, she is actually attractive. She's not supposed to be ugly. But neither did she need protecting.

  • Mortimer says:

Agreed. Looks like the Frankenstein monster (as played by Michael Sarrazin); or maybe Lurch
