VIDEO: Check Out a Clip From 'Excruciating' Sarah Palin Documentary
The Undefeated, a/k/a the Sarah Palin-boosting pre-presidential campaign documentary, has begun making the rounds among select critics and conservative bloggers. And while one of the latter has praised the film as a stirring portrait of "the real-life woman who shook up business as usual through policies grounded in free-market principles and putting government back on the side of the people," it's the professional reviewers -- even the ones on the right -- who are smothering the movie in its crib.
The NY Post's Kyle Smith -- well-known for his right-leaning (and no-holds-barred) critical slant -- had this to say after viewing director Stephen K. Bannon's latest:
[I]ts tone is an excruciating combination of bombast and whining, it's so outlandishly partisan that it makes Richard Nixon look like Abraham Lincoln and its febrile rush of images -- not excluding earthquakes, car wrecks, volcanic eruption and attacking Rottweilers -- reminded me of the brainwash movie Alex is forced to sit through in A Clockwork Orange. Except no one came along to refresh my pupils with eyedrops.
Yikes. But what does it mean for the Palin-for-president crowd?
If you're hopeful (or worried) that this movie is the secret trigger for a Palin relaunch, don't be. Even if you fixed the blaring soundtrack and took out all the symbols of the cataclysmic evil opposing Palin (barking dogs, disaster footage, a closeup of Rosie O'Donnell), you'd still be left with a hopeless sputtering jumble.
The busted logic and narrative chop of The Undefeated don't suggest the phrase, "spirited new defense of Palin." They say, "cyclone landed here."
Oh. Maybe Smith is more of a Rick Santorum guy? Anyway, move over, Love Marriage Wedding -- it looks like you might soon have company at the bottom of Rotten Tomatoes. Here's a clip:

Politics aside, that wagging and pointing finger looked pretty stupid.
Sarah Palin is awful, and Kyle Smith is a sniveling, miserable tool. He has also written two terrible novels!
