Friday Night Lights Alum Lands Role in Next Paul Thomas Anderson Film
Paul Thomas Anderson's next film, an untitled drama about a charismatic, pseudo-Scientological religious leader (Philip Seymour Hoffman, perhaps paging Paul Dano in There Will Be Blood), will get a boost from Friday Night Lights alum Jesse Plemons as the guru's son. It's spot-on casting; they're very related-looking. That's like if Daniel Plainview's brothers were played by Blue Bloods-era Tom Selleck and the Pringles guy. The movie costars Joaquin Phoenix, Laura Dern, and veteran character actor David Warshofsky. [Variety]

Omg Landry's going Hollywood y'all.
PERFECT!
Not that I needed any more incentive to see this movie, but that's terrific casting. Please let this come out this year!
Initially when I read the words cast and added in the Joaquin Phoenix news headlines on his imdb.com page my initial thought was replaced. I remembered when that was the case going back as far as Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar Hoover biopic, the Hulk, the Maxwell Perkins biopic and the latest rejection "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter" I thought Joaquin finally being in a new movie was too good to be true.
I was so relieved and jubilant I was wrong. What was the case was more actors were included. Namely Jesse Plemons , David Warshovsky and Laura Dern are now in it.
It seems that the movie is coming along nicely. Why these cast members were added so late into production I can't say. I wonder if the reason laid with the director's personal decisions or there were factors beyond his control. Or if he's a member of the procastinater's club. I don't want to be presumptive. I do know its a real club with international headquarters in Phila, PA and its slogan is "Just you wait"
