See The Chillingly Creepy New Muppets Poster
There are a few unassailable essential guidelines to film: the villain is always bad, the girl is always pretty, and you should never EVER see the Muppets' feet when they walk. But in the new poster for Jason Segel's The Muppets we're treated to the unearthly spectacle of the Muppet gang perambulating on their own. Segel has sworn up and down his movie would have traditional, CGI-free puppetry, but this makes them look like they're hanging out with the crappy CGI singer from Jabba's palace. Click ahead to gawk at the horrific spectacle.
I had been looking forward to this new take on the Muppets, but let's hope Segel keeps their feet off the ground and back to where they belong--flopped casually over a brick wall. [Coming Soon]

It's time to get things started...
ZOMBIE MUPPETS!!! Get me my shotgun!
Eh, think you might be overreacting a bit, Dixon Gaines. Also, one of the best parts of the original muppet movie is when a full-bodied Kermit rides the bike at the beginning.
I remember that night well. I was fast asleep when our trailer started rocking. I woke up and was almost blinded by a fierce light that seemed to come from everywhere. And then I saw them. A frog. A pig. And Sweet Jesus Christ a stuffed bear that walked. For some reason they ignored me as they made their way to the back of the trailer, giving me an opportunity to get outside and hide under my neighbor's trailer. It seemed like they spent forever in my house before they finally left and the light disappeared.
They found my father's head in the bathtub and one of his legs was under the bed.
They never found any piece of my maw.
If only you had my trusty boomstick!! You can get one for $109.95 at S-Mart just in case these abominations should ever return...
Shop smart... Shop S-Mart!
Reminds me of the creatures coming out of the spaceship at the end of Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
That is hands down the funniest thing I've read all day. I laughed in the spazziest most redonkulous way possible at that. I wish I could give you a gold star. It was that good.
Pretty close
You misspelled "Chillingly Crappy" on the headline.
I remember that scene well and it creeped me out even then--it seemed somehow obscene that I could see Kermit's legs stretched out.
But at least it was a brief scene shot from a distance; this poster is unrelenting, making you just stare at their muppety gams, their eyes, their lifeless eyes! Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When Fozzie comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living. . .until he bites you, and those black eyes roll over white and then. . . ah, then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'. . .and despite all the poundin' and the hollerin', they all come in and they rip you to pieces...
On second look, it's animal who freaks me out the most. He looks like of the hill people, hungry for some city boy ass chased with some of uncle daddy's white lightning.
What's wrong with it? It looks like the Muppets. It doesn't look demonic, CGI'ed, or scary. It will be nice for kids to go see something that looks like it should. They look like puppets. That's a good thing.
There is nothing creepy about that. Hate to see what you think is scary.
I do not agree with the author. Muppets still surprise and delight. it is a sign of life. Worse if they are boring and mundane.
exactly. pffft - kids. what do they know?
Grow up. There is nothing creepy, and CGI was not used.
Agreed.
I agree Leigh.
"you should never EVER see the Muppets’ feet when they walk."
You obviously have no clue what you are talking about, and know nothing about the Muppets.
"let’s hope Segel keeps their feet off the ground and back to where they belong—flopped casually over a brick wall."
Wrong, wrong wrong. That is not what the Muppets were about. They were not just puppets in front of a wall. In the old days, their feet were seen frequently. And from the very beginning, they were always presented to the audience as real beings, not puppets.
I agree Justin.
Dixie... I think its "just you".. outside of the Kermit bike scene, there were several other iconic ones including my favorite Piggy rollerskating through NYC in the Muppets take Manhattan... they have legs.. get over it! lol
Look, it is not about seeing their legs! It is about the fact they look dead-eyed and creepy plus the tag-line makes no sense. There was a reason the Muppets were always very active in photos> Because they are made of felt with ping-pong balls for eyes and if they are just standing and staring the illusion of life is lost.... Bad poster; bad tagline. I think the opening line from Winchester on this comment thread would have made a great tagline!
