Friday in NYC: Humpday Director Lynn Shelton Goes Way Back With Michelle Orange

lynn_shelton300.jpgThe weekend is nearly upon us (shhh, let's not jinx it), and thus it's time to make some culturegoing plans. And Movieline's readers in New York are in for a special treat Friday night, when resident critic Michelle Orange will join Humpday director Lynn Shelton for a revival and discussion of her little-seen 2006 debut feature We Go Way Back.

The women go at least a bit of a way back themselves, with Orange previously, expertly profiling Shelton in 2009 for the NY Times. This time around, they'll talk over (and take your questions about) Shelton's Slamdance-winning first film, concerning a disappointed young actress named Kate (Amber Hubert) who, on her 23rd birthday, is grilled in a letter -- and eventually visited -- by her 13-year-old self (Maggie Brown).

Kicking off a weeklong engagement, the event goes off Friday night at 7 at the reRun Theater in Brooklyn. You certainly can't beat the price: $5. (And they serve drinks!)
