Top Gun Headed Back to Theaters
25 years after Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer bumped and spiked their way into box office history, Top Gun is returning to a slew of AMC theaters on Sunday, April 30 at 12:30 p.m. and Monday, May 2 at 7 p.m. Somehow, the only actually gay component of this movie is Kelly McGillis, but that's not stopping us from revisiting Maverick and Iceman on the big-screen. Watch the re-release trailer after the jump, in the danger zone.

If this works (and I kind of hope it does) that might mean the death of terrible re-makes and the possibility that old hits could be re-released on the big screen.
Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know: "In these economic times why would anyone pay $12 to see a movie they can OWN for $5?"
I'm not saying it's a guarantee, but with digital's ability for cheap distribution you never know.
Certain titles could be nice earners for little output cost.
The Goonies, Saturday Night Fever, etc.
If theater chains reduced box-office charges a bit for these specific movies (say $7 or so per ticket) it might entice people to take their kids to a classic they enjoyed in their youth so they could see it on the big screen.
It's not a bad idea.
I'd definitely pay reduced cinema dollars to see some of the classics of my childhood (the Eighties) on the bigger screen.
